About Us

The 10th Birkenhead Scout Group serves the community of Tranmere and surrounding areas. Founded in 1923, we provide focus, direction and support for local children and their families by imparting moral values, social skills and a confidence learnt by social interaction and responsibility.

Being centrally located we have young members not only from Tranmere, but from all areas of Birkenhead, Prenton, Bebington, Moreton and Poulton.

Our values are straightforward

Leadership: At the 10th Birkenhead Scout Group, our leadership teams undergo regular training, in both regulatory requirements such as First Aid and Risk Management, and relevant specialist qualifications such as Camp Management, Expedition and Nights Away Leadership, Mountaining and Core Skills training. We believe that your child, when in our care, is entitled to the very best we can offer.

Teamwork: We find there is a wide spread of ages, capabilities and personalities not only across the Sections but also within each Section, our Leaders and Helpers are confident in their experience and ability to communicate with and understand their young members. Leaders work together within and across sections to run a balanced programme based on the requirements and recommendations laid down by the Scout Association.

Development: At the 10th Birkenhead Scout Group, our highest priority is, obviously, the safety of your child, all our activities are Risk Assessed and all our Leaders are qualified First Aiders; that is actually a misleading term now as First Aid was recently replaced by First Response. Having said that, we believe in the development of the individual by building their confidence in themselves and their abilities. Our activities should stretch them physically and mentally. Our Cubs and Scouts get the opportunity to gain independence and spend nights away from home on a regular basis
