Wirral Herpetological Society |

Well, we did warn the Cubs that it was going to be a creepy evening.
We invited The Wirral Herpetological Society round for the evening, one of whom used to be a Scout at The Tenth. On the night eight of the Society turned up.
It was a truly fantastic evening. We’d planned for a forty minute session from start to finish but in the end we let our visitors do a fifty minute talk about their work and the characteristics and care requirements of the huge variety of snakes, arachnids, lizards and crabs they had brought with them, we then let the Cubs have a thirty minutes hands-on session with said reptiles.
Everyone was having such a great time we decided to apologise to the parents and extend the evening by half an hour, by the time we’d done two Investitures (we did toy with the idea of Investing the two Cubs with a snake round their necks but thought that might be stretching things a bit too far).
The Societies members definitely know their stuff and they had the Cubs enthralled throughout their talk. We knew at least one of the Cubs has a reptile and suggested to him and his parents that he joined the Society for its help and advice.
Absolutely wonderful. Well done The Wirral Herpetological Society, and thank you again. |
